We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Purchasing Coordinator to join our client's purchasing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is expected to be long-term temporary with the opportunity to become a permanent employee based on performance and business needs.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Create, review, and process purchase orders using the Baan ERP system.
  • Place purchase orders with domestic and international suppliers while ensuring accuracy of pricing, quantities, and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor purchase order acknowledgements and confirm suppliers have accepted and scheduled orders.
  • Track open purchase orders and proactively follow up with suppliers regarding shipment status, delivery schedules, and potential delays.
  • Maintain regular communication with vendors regarding pricing, order status, shortages, backorders, and delivery commitments.
  • Update purchasing records and maintain accurate documentation within the ERP system.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for cost savings, improved supplier performance, and process improvements.
  • Maintain organized purchasing files and documentation for audit and recordkeeping purposes.
  • Assist with special purchasing projects and other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous purchasing, procurement, buyer, or supply chain experience preferred.
  • Experience creating and processing purchase orders.
  • ERP system experience required; Baan ERP experience is highly preferred (experience with SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Epicor, or similar ERP systems will also be considered).
  • Experience working directly with suppliers and vendor relationships.
  • Ability to obtain pricing, negotiate lead times, and follow up on open purchase orders.
  • Basic understanding of ISO quality standards or manufacturing quality systems preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Associate's degree or college coursework in Business, Supply Chain, Purchasing, or a related field is preferred but not required.
